News - Home Improvements at JEWELL Engineering
October 1, 2012 - Since 2001, JEWELL Engineering’s home has been the historic Bodenhamer Store Building at the southern end of Kernersville’s historic downtown area. The building has served us well, but the only access to the second floor was an outside stair and porch that were showing signs of age and weathering. As one of Kernersville’s primary landmarks (“the brick building in the Y”), it was time to remove the old stairs and porch and replace them with a more functional and stable structure. With this in mind, we have recently completed an improvement project that enhances the building while preserving its rich architectural heritage in the community. The new porch and stairwell are constructed with non-maintenance materials and have been designed to complement the original solid brick structure and architecture.
